31 December 2007

We bid you happy, safe, fun filled and successful 2008 greetings to our valued customers, supporters, friends and valued divers.

With this, our very first mailer for 2008, we bring you as usual, some updates on happenings with Scuba Dynamics, dive trips, PADI dive courses and of course, our retail department.

2007 was a good year as far as business was concerned and with our sincere thanks to you, our valued supporters.

Sadly, 2007 also produced a few challenges that affected us as a business concern

Those incidents; some were hurtful, some were expensive and some were outright ridiculous, but having successfully overcome this, our resolution for 2008 is that Scuba Dynamics will be even stronger, friendlier, and more dynamic in our operations.

We have renewed and strengthened our ties with our suppliers, supporters and our network within the industry and with this resolution, we will be able to offer YOU, the most important component in our business, a better variety of dive destinations, the full range of PADI courses and experience programs, a bigger selection of dive equipment, accessories and of course, the ever popular toys, gadgets & accessories and all at the best possible prices while not forgetting our new venture into underwater housings for cameras, strobes and accessories of many brands.

We start off with our dive & fun trips to Puerto Galera in the Philippines from the 9 th to 13 th of February over the Chinese New Year Holidays followed by another return trip to the awesome and fabulous Lembeh Straits in Manado, Indonesia from the 19 th to 24 th March. Full details can be seen as per attachments but please note that as the Puerto Galera has already started to fill up and places are limited, please let us know by this week if you are keen on joining us there.

The Lembeh Straits trip is expected to be very popular as well purely for the fact that for those who’ve been there know exactly how awesome the diving and underwater photography opportunities that Lembeh is world famous for.

One of the most exciting events we have planned for this year is the Mabul Photo Fiesta at the very lovely Sipadan Water Village Resort on Mabul Island in conjunction with some other dive operators, and themed as “ Click & Conserve ” from the 8 th to 12 th March 2008.

This event, priced as a normal 5 day / 4 night dive trip, will offer underwater photography workshops on site that is specifically focused on the new or newer underwater photographer and has a “not too serious” underwater photography competition with a great bunch of prizes to be won. Full details will be realised once all parties concerned have finalised and confirmed things.

With our new resident instructor, Jeffrey Lee, on board now, we will be conducting the full range of PADI dive courses and “experience programs” in earnest, but due to the current north east monsoon period, we will only be able to start training from the end of February onwards and as usual, these training trips will normally be a short weekend “getaway” from Friday morning to Sunday evenings and of course, these trips will also cater to the already certified diver with their own fun diving itineraries.

Our Peak Buoyancy Clinics have proven to be beneficial to the many who participated in this and we will consider organising more such “clinics” should the demand be there.

Our Basic Dive Equipment Repair or “Save – a – dive” courses filled up almost immediately upon releasing the information but rest assured that there WILL be more organised soon for the very many who missed out on this.

We are also looking at doing a Recompression Chamber Orientation experience program where you will be put in an actual Recompression Chamber and compressed to a depth that may induce the Narcosis effect on you.

Naturally, this will be conducted under very controlled conditions and by highly trained and specialised dive chamber operators and instructors. The best part is the whole process will be videotaped so we can all have a laugh at you under the influence of Narcosis.

We also looking at having the PADI Course Director in charge of this program to conduct a Neurological Assessment course as an optional add on where you will be taught how to correctly assess a diver who may require urgent medical attention and to what degree of “injury” that diver may have suffered.

As previously mentioned, we are still in the final stages of redoing our new website and will get it up and running as soon as possible. In this new website, we will re revamping various pages, including our mailing list so please let us know if you or if you know of someone who wishes to be included or removed from this list. For those of you wish to continue receiving these semi-regular mailers from us, kindly add scuba.dynamics@gmail.com to your address books to avoid them from ending up in your spam folder.

Also as mentioned in earlier postings, most of our suppliers have ended their various promotions at the end of 2007 but are in the midst of creating some new ones. Please keep your eyes on these postings and in the “Special Offers” section of our website for more information and details. The current offer for the SUUNTO Mosquito dive computer is still valid so you might want to take advantage of this in preparation for the upcoming dive season and trips that you may be going on.

Please note however that our current website is (slightly) out of date as our “web master” Stephanie has been away on trips and her personal annual holidays but we hope to get this updated very soon, so please call us to verify any information that may interest you.

Again, as another reminder, please note that Scuba Dynamics will be closed every Monday starting from the 7 th of January 2008, along with a few major Public Holidays but otherwise, our business hours remain the same; Tuesdays to Saturdays from 12.00 Noon to 8.00pm and from 12.00 Noon to 7.00pm on Sundays.

Well guys & gals, as expected, this has become a serious read so I will sign off for now until the next mailer.

Once again, stay safe, keep happy but most importantly, dive safe and dive Scuba Dynamics.

Henry.
